Mingling together in May!
![]() |
Every May, like every colony and parish in Bandra, St. Peters Colony too gears up for a month of community Rosary. This year was no different. Over the years, the numbers may have dwindled but the beautiful tradition lives on. Five minutes before the Rosary is scheduled to begin, the early birds bang a stick against the lamp posts. The distinctive clanging is a reminder to all to come down to the lawns for Rosary. The statue of Our Lady is brought out by some kindly family on the ground floor, sheets with prayers and hymns are passed around. “The bells of the Angelus” remains the most popular opening hymn. Unlike the old days the number of people saying the rosary has dramatically reduced. With hectic working hours few people have the time and not many parents insist that their children should attend. The end of the Rosary signals the appearance of “Channa” or other snacks generously given by a different family every time. At the end of the month there is a veritable feast of goodies and everyone comes together in a spirit of co-operation. May we continue to mingle together promoting community feeling and saying the Rosary with love and devotion to Our Lady every month of May. |
