In May 1863, the Seminary which was housed at St Peter’s, was transferred to Cavel and its place was occupied by the Boys’ Orphanage. Thus the orphans merged with the parish school which had been the nucleus of what was to be St Stanislaus’ School and Orphanage.

Gradually the school grew into a Middle School, and came to be called St Stanislaus’ Institution in March 1887. Erecting a new building, providing more class rooms and a dormitory for boarders was the work of the German Jesuits, but with their transfer to Poona, the Spanish Jesuits took over under the leadership of Fr Michael Marti.

St. Stanislaus High School

In March 1926, the St Stanislaus’ Institution attained the status of a High School. Another new building was erected with an infirmary on the top floor.

In 1932, Fr Joseph Cassasayas was appointed Rector of St Peter’s. This ‘builder-priest’ was the man behind St Peter’s new Church.

Over the years there is much of which it can be justly proud – in the academic world, in the field of sports. In other spheres too – Scouting, Road Safety Patrol, Elocution, Music and Histrionics.

If the past is any indication, St Stanislaus High School has the potential to achieve even greater distinctions.

St Sebastian's School

St Sebastian's School had its early beginnings, way back in 1874, in the humble home of a childless widow, Rosu Burna, in Colwad, Chapel Road. Her piety and devotion to St Sebastian inspired her to make her home a place of evening prayer for the neighbouring children.

In January 1874 the school was opened and named after St Sebastian. The responsibility of teaching the children was passed on to the sisters of St Joseph's Convent. The efforts of the Sisters and the Fathers of St Peter’s resulted in an ever-increasing attendance of eager children and, with the aid of the Municipality , a Marathi Primary Day School was started in the premises.

Today, St. Sebastian’s houses the KG classes of the St. Stanislaus school.
