Morning Offering & Night Examen

Morning Offering

Make your 'Morning Offering' the very first thing on getting up. Before saying this prayer it is important that you think of 'one' thing that is going to happen today that you especially want to offer Jesus - be it your exam, some work, a game of football,  a difficulty you are to face or a dish you will be preparing. (fr Rm 12:1)

The important thing is not what prayer you say but your 'Attitude' of offering your whole day to the Lord: your prayers, thoughts, words, actions, joys & sufferings. Once you have offered your day, live that offering, letting  Jesus  take charge. He will guide  &  protect you &  give you His Peace.

You may use the prayer below, or the 'Lord’s prayer' or make your own spontaneous prayer of offering.

O GOD OUR FATHER, I offer you my day.

I offer you my prayers, thoughts, words, actions,

joys & sufferings in union with your Son Jesus Christ

who continues to offer Himself in the Eucharist,

for the salvation of the world.

May the Holy Spirit,

who guided Jesus, be my guide & strength

today so that I may witness to your love.

With Mary, the Mother of our Lord and

of the Church I pray especially

for this month's intentions

as proposed by the Holy Father.

Amen.

“The practice of praying the Morning Offering is of fundamental importance in the life of each &  every one of the faithful.”   -  Pope John Paul  II

Night Examen

The Focus of the Examen is not yourself, but the awareness of how God has been present & guiding you  all through the day (Ps 23). If it is done daily you will soon realize that God is present & active at every moment of your day.

After signing yourself say :

1.   Our Father …..

2.   The Three Hail  Mary's

Three  things you are thankful for today.

                Hail Mary… Holy Mary…

Two things you are sorry about today.

                Hail Mary… Holy Mary…

One thing you would like to improve on tomorrow.

                Hail Mary… Holy Mary…

3.   Glory be….

 “COME”

The Word, “COME” in the St. Peters Church is an invitation of Jesus to Peter, asking him to walk over the stormy waters to the Peace that Jesus alone can give.  (Mt 14:29)

It is one of the many comforting invitations that Jesus gave his disciples then & it is an invitation to you today.... "If anyone is thirsty, let him COME  to me and drink.              (Jn 7:37)

"COME  to me, all you who are weary & burdened, & I will give you rest.   (Mt 11:28)
