Lent
is the time for sacrifices,
To discover our strength and weaknesses.
From things we love we refrain,
Try living lives simple and plain.
To fast and abstain is not just spiritual
Nor is it a religious ritual.
It's to control and tame our desires,
From wants and greed not required.
Then when Easter comes around
Our Faith and Hope are re-born.
The 40 days of lent are forgotten,
As we rejoice in His death and Resurrection.
As Lent and Easter speed away,
The good habits formed should stay
To make them a part of our life,
And to inculcate them, we should strive.
If every Lent we pick something new,
To change our vices into a virtue,
We will be well prepared for the test,
When God comes to choose the best!
We are a Pilgrim People on our way,
Hoping to see God face to face someday.
It's in loving and forgiving our days are spent.
Let everyday of the year be,
The Joyful Season of Lent.
