TV -- Boom or Bane

On 19th August, 2007 all seven parishes of Bandra met at Carmel Convent for Faith Formation. The talk given to us was on the good and bad of computer games and the T.V.

Fr. Gerard told us that watching T.V. was good, but not too much. First we were shown a slide of the Animal Planet and Mr. Bean, then we had to fill a questionnaire about our thoughts on the clippings. Everybody thought they were nice programmes and that the animal planet gave us information, education and entertainment.

After that we were shown another clipping of T.N.A. Wrestling. Most of the boys loved the show, but majority of the children said
that it was very violent and disturbing.

The day ended with Fr. Gerard celebrating Mass for us. Using the CN of Cartoon Network as a reminder he said

C – Choose your TV programmes well
N – Not too much TV every day

After Mass we went home, sad but full of memories and waiting for next year's FAITH FORMATION DAY !

MORE THINGS ARE WROUGHT BY PRAYER
THAN THIS WORLD DREAMS OF

Dr. Dossey the Sceptic

Scientists are now discovering what believers have always known -- that prayer can heal.

When Dr . Larry Dossey was doing his training at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Texas, he encountered a patient with terminal cancer in both lungs. He advised him on what therapy was available, and what little he thought it would do.

The patient opted for no treatment. But he was surrounded by friends who were singing and praying for him.

A year later, one of his colleagues invited him to see his old patient. Dr. Larry Dossey could not believe that he was still alive. When he glanced at his chest X-Rays he was stunned. There was no sign of any cancer.

Since he only believed in the power of modern medicine, he put the incident out of his mind.

As the years passed, he became aware that many of his patients used prayer, but he put little trust in it. Later he came across studies
conducted under the most stringent laboratory conditions which showed that prayer brings about significant changes in a variety of physical conditions.
